The challenge

A complete façade reset.

Liberty Court is a five-storey residential building in Kent. Following a fire-risk appraisal of the external walls, the existing façade required comprehensive remediation. The works involved removing ACM cladding, timber cladding around the balconies and combustible polystyrene insulation within rendered areas before rebuilding the envelope with A1-rated products.

The programme required close control of interfaces, openings, penetrations and changing façade types, while maintaining a clear evidence trail throughout the works.

Scope of works

Strip. Detail.
Rebuild. Assure.

  1. 01

Careful strip and removal of existing ACM cladding

  2. 02

Removal of timber cladding around balcony areas

  3. 03

Removal of combustible polystyrene insulation behind rendered elevations

  4. 04

Installation of replacement A1-rated façade products and insulation

  5. 05

Intumescent protection at joints, penetrations and façade openings

  6. 06

Reconstruction of rendered and panelled elevations

  7. 07

Sequenced inspections, photographic records and coordinated handover

Working together

Compliance through coordination.

Facade Build worked closely with the project architects, surveyors and Homes England throughout the remediation. Design information, material selection, sequencing, inspections and project evidence were coordinated to support compliance with applicable fire-safety requirements, current UK regulations and legislation.

Critical interfaces

Details that perform.

Intumescent products were incorporated around joints, service penetrations and openings as part of the redesigned envelope. These interfaces were installed and recorded with the same care as the principal cladding and render systems.

The outcome

A safer, renewed building envelope.

The completed works replaced the identified combustible façade elements with a coordinated A1-rated solution, renewed the appearance of the building and created a documented route from strip-out through to completion.
